Benefits of Pregnancy and Postpartum Massage.
During Pregnancy, a woman’s body goes through many changes, some of which are tougher to endure than others. For those suffering with muscle aches, joint swelling and persistent hormonal headaches, prenatal massage may be able to help, while also reducing stress and anxiety. Massage after the baby arrives also helps bring the body back into its pre-pregnancy alignment.
American Pregnancy Association studies show that massage therapy preformed during pregnancy can reduce anxiety, decrease symptoms of depression and improve labor. Massage therapy address different needs through a combination of calming Swedish massage strokes, with a gentle range of motion and stretching to relieve pressure in the neck, back, shoulders; and abdominal massage to support digestion and increase circulation to the placenta and baby.
A recent study by the Journal of Psychosomatic Obstetrics & Gynecology suggests that massage in the postpartum period assists breast feeding by alleviating tightness and helping with some breast feeding difficulties, also flushes lactic acid out of the tissues relieving sore muscles.
A 2010 study by the Touch Research Institute at the University of Miami found that pregnant women receiving regular massage report a significant decrease in back and leg pain and swelling in the lower extremities.

Caveat Emptor When Choosing Cannabidiol Products
Some have called cannabidiol (CBD) the supplement of the 21st century. The human endocannabinoid system was discovered about 30 years ago. It is a chemical communication network similar to hormone communications. Our bodies make cannabinoids, and they are responsible for homeostasis in the body, enabling our ability to maintain balance and function in a healthy environment.
Research shows that CBD hemp extract stimulates the endocannabinoid receptors and provides dramatic benefits. It has a powerful anti-inflammatory effect, protects the brain and nerves, inhibits cancer cell growth, reduces seizures, blood sugar levels, relieves pain, anxiety and depression, reduces nausea, suppresses muscle spasms and promotes bone growth.
However, some of the CBD hemp extract being sold is tainted with toxic chemicals; what is on the label may not be in the bottle. When purchasing CBD hemp extract, there are several key factors to look for. It should be grown and manufactured in the United States using CO2extraction methods and should be a full-spectrum extract. Knowledge is power and the key to getting a high-quality product.
Winer Wellness Center, with practitioners for chiropractic, nutritional consultation, allergy elimination and muscle therapy. workers compensation and accident insurance claims and a complete line of CBD full-spectrum hemp extract products, is located at 2419 Baldwick Rd., in Pittsburgh. Free Monthly Educational Weed Walks
Jen Dalke will conduct Weed Walks around the property of Bedner's Farm & Greenhouses, in Cecil, Pennsylvania, through October. She says, “We’ll discuss proper and common names, some basic botany, such as names of plant parts, type of leaves, plant families, and so much more!” Walks are a very leisurely pace, with minimal slopes. They’re great for people most ages, but children under age 7 may become bored, depending on their interest in plants.
Dalke exaplins, “I began my journey as an herbalist using only plant medicine to heal myself since age 15 and working in herbal remedy stores helping other people to achieve the same. I remain on this path at present and have been sharpening my focus on botany and plant/human sciences for several years via Tammi Sweet, at the Heartstone Center for Earth Essentials, and ethnobotanist Marc Williams, over at Botany Every Day.”
